A Very Merry Birthday

The day started with a Happy Birthday sung over pancakes.

Then she enjoyed cupcakes with her friends at Yume Club (I wish I had pics of this).

Then Maximo couldn't wait for Lola to open her presents, so he helped her get out of her shoes and jacket when we got home.

Then helped her open her presents... and play with them, of course.

We had a nice family dinner of homemade spaghetti and meatballs.

And then we enjoyed chocolate cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday, Lola!  We love you!

The Boy Can Swim!

 

Goodbye Water Wings!

Thanks to a couple of weeks of swim classes at the YMCA and being in the water, either the beach, lake or pool almost every day of the summer, Maximo can swim.  He struggles a bit swimming above water, but he can definitely swim underwater!  

Lola has gotten quite confident in her Puddle Hopper as well and tools around the pool without us right next to her too.

I like to use this blog as a digital baby book along with sharing snippets of our lives with friends and family.  I don't have any awesome video footage, but Miss Lola decided today about five minutes before leaving for work, she was going to walk half way across the bedroom!

I can't envision her being able to mess up the house any more than she already does... so there are no negatives to this new feat... except that out little babe is just not so little anymore. 

Of course, she's got a nice cold and more teeth popping through, just in time for our vacation.  After tomorrow, we have three weeks off.  And the first week, we'll spend it with friends in Phuket, Thailand...  We can't wait!
